How it works

You send the documents. We send the bid package.

Commercial bids are won or lost on the takeoff: a missed note, a storefront that was N.I.C., a tag that doesn't match the legend. We read all of it, so you can price the job and get back to selling.

  1. 01

    Send the documents

Plans, specifications, every addendum and the bid date. Paste a link to the bid files or email them to us.

  2. 02

    We confirm the fee

We count the pages we'll work from and email you the fixed fee. Nothing starts until you say go.

  3. 03

    We do the takeoff

Every sheet with windows, every general note and keynote, the legend, the window schedule and the Division 12 spec. Then a second, independent count.

  4. 04

    You bid it

The package lands in 48 hours. Revisions are free until bid day, and one addendum is included.

A real package, a made-up job

See exactly what you'll get.

Cypress Point is a sample job we drew so you can see every page: a small medical office with 16 windows, three shade types, a motorized conference room and two storefront windows that aren't in scope.

In every package

Five files, ready for bid day.

The takeoff report

Totals by shade type, the scope with the sheet and note behind each line, the shade schedule, inclusions, exclusions and assumptions, every discrepancy in the documents, questions for the GC, a field-verify list, motor and power coordination, the quality check and the marked sheets.

  • Summary and totals
  • Scope and sources
  • Shade schedule
  • Inclusions and exclusions
  • Questions for the GC
  • Motorization
  • Quality check
  • Marked sheets

A workbook you can price from

The schedule in Excel with columns for your field measure, totals by type as live formulas, the questions and the spec summary.

Proposal language to paste

Scope, basis of price, inclusions, exclusions and clarifications, written from the takeoff so your bid says what you priced.

A manufacturer request

A clean quote request for the manufacturer's commercial team, with the products, quantities and sizes.

A plain CSV schedule

The same schedule as a simple file for your own spreadsheet or quoting tool.

How we keep it right

Checked the way a paying dealer would.

Every takeoff ends with a quality check page, so you can see what was checked and what we couldn't.

  • Two independent counts. The estimator's count, then a second by another method: AI takeoff, a text search of the tags, or a measure of the linework. Any difference is explained.
  • Every exterior window accounted for. Each one is a shade, or it's listed as not in scope with the reason.
  • The scale is checked. Against a written dimension, because title blocks are sometimes wrong.
  • Sizes from the best source. Window schedule first, then written dimensions, then the scaled drawings, and each line says which.
  • Never a guessed height. If the documents don't show it, the line says Field verify.
  • Your list, checked too. Send your own count and we'll compare it against the plan notes and keynotes.

What counts as a page

Each drawing sheet we work from (plans, elevations, schedules, details) plus the window covering spec pages, usually a Division 12 section like 12 24 13 Roller Window Shades. Spec sections for other trades don't count, even when they come in the same file.

Need it faster than 48 hours? Say so on the request and we'll tell you if we can.

Questions

What estimators ask first.

Something else? Ask on the request and we'll answer with the fee.

How fast is a takeoff?

48 hours from complete documents: the plans, the specifications and every addendum issued so far. Need it sooner? Say so on the request and we'll tell you if we can.

What counts as a page?

Each drawing sheet we work from (floor plans, elevations, schedules, details) plus the window covering specification pages, usually a Division 12 section such as 12 24 13 Roller Window Shades. Spec sections for other trades don't count. We tell you the page count and the fee before we start.

Do you have monthly plans?

Yes. 3 takeoffs a month for $449, 6 for $799 or 12 for $1,499, each takeoff under 25 pages (a bigger one counts as 2). Unused takeoffs roll over 1 month, extra takeoffs are 20% off, there is no setup fee, and paying annually saves 20%.

Is the first takeoff really free?

Yes. Your business's first takeoff is free when the set is under 25 pages: the full package, no card needed. Tick the box on the request. Bigger sets and later takeoffs are priced by the page, and we confirm the fee before we start.

How do I pay?

By card or bank payment on Stripe's secure checkout. For a single takeoff we email the page count and the fixed fee with a pay link, and start as soon as it's paid. Takeoff Plans start right here on this page, billed monthly or paid annually, and a monthly plan cancels any time. Every takeoff follows our Takeoff Service Terms.

Do I need a HeadRail subscription?

No. Takeoffs are a stand-alone service for any blinds or shade dealer. If you bid commercial work every month, the HeadRail Commercial plan also gives you commercial bids, jobs and takeoff tools in your own CRM.

Do you measure the windows?

No. The takeoff sizes are window openings for pricing, taken from the window schedule, written dimensions or the scaled drawings, and each line says which. A size the documents don't show is marked Field verify, never guessed. Order sizes come from your field measure before you release the order.

What if an addendum comes out?

One addendum is included, and revisions are free until bid day. Later addenda are quoted before we start them.

What happens to my drawings?

They are used only for your takeoff and deleted 30 days after the bid date. We never share them or use them for anything else.

What products can you take off?

Window coverings on commercial jobs: roller, solar and blackout shades, dual and motorized shades with their motors and switches, blinds and drapery. Tell us the products or manufacturer you want to quote and we'll match the takeoff to it.

Your next bid, counted twice, in 48 hours.
